Tightening you shot group... it's a military phrase. It means you need to focus on your precision and effectiveness while firing your weapon. Your aim is to be able to place your rounds with such precision that they hit the same spot naturally when you send rounds down range. The key to success is being able to snap to the same precise action every time you aim and fire. This is what we need to do as a corporation.
Lately, our membership at times has been very lasseiz-faire with regard to fleet operations in two key areas. Our participation, for one, has not been up to snuff. For example, yesterday during our 1430 fleet operation, online corporation members numbered at 50. That itself isn't the problem. The problem is of those 50, only 16 were in fleet. At a glance, I counted 15 of those online were alts, which leaves 19 of us where were not there. Let's get one thing clear: fleet operations are not optional. If a fleet op is called, you need to be there if at all possible. If you're not, you'd better have a damn good reason for it, and we will be checking. We are not a 0.0 access corp in a 0.0 access alliance. Members are expected to contribute what they have when it's needed. We understand that sometimes you do need to carebear or do other stuff to keep yourself in ships as we've spent the better part of 7 months at war, but constantly missing fleet ops is unacceptable.
In addition, fleet discipline has been quite lax lately. People not listening to the FCs (going outside pos shields yesterday when the FC wanted us to keep just inside the pos shields, jumping through gates we're told to hold on, etc), bringing ships that are not valuable to the fleet (Pilgrims are NOT fleet ships, find something else), all contribute to a general undiscipline in our fleets. We, as a corp, need to pay more attention to detail. Details, orders, and quick adaptation to what's asked of you during operations is the key to survival on the battlefield. Not only do you hurt yourself when you lose ships through a failure to listen, you hurt the entire alliance by losing valuable resources on the field.
Tighten your shot group, Reikoku. We are the best single military corporation in the Eve Online universe. It's time we started acting like it. If you need help, ask. Part of what makes us great (or should, anyway) is the brotherhood of purpose that we share. There's a wealth of information here... start using it. Pick the brains of those who've been here for years while we're not doing anything. Start asking questions of legends of the game like Dian (when he's on), tricky, and SFShootme (when he's sober). Find out how you can improve in any way. Be the best. Be better than the best. Make our enemies look for us in local with dread.
